Bleaching is one of the most aggressive treatments to which hair can be subjected. During the process it is inevitable that the hair is damaged, and it must be taken into account that the hair fiber does not have the ability to regenerate, which means that the hair does not return to an initial state after bleaching. It is therefore very important to constantly care for and protect the hair in order to keep the hair in a healthy state even after bleaching.
In the bleaching process the hair is damaged at the cuticle, in many cases reaching the cortex, which is the layer that gives strength and supports the fiber. The result of a damaged cortex is increased breakage. This is why after bleaching we can feel that our ends are weaker and even thinner, as they break more easily, producing an unpleasant visual effect.
The innermost layer of the hair is called the cortex, and is responsible for giving strength, elasticity and shape to the hair. This layer is protected by overlapping cells, which we call the cuticle, and is the outermost layer. The cuticle is easily damaged, both by daily grooming habits and environmental factors. And it is when this damage occurs that we notice a rough, dry texture to the hair.
After bleaching, these cracks that have been created in our hair can increase due to all the factors mentioned above, and good hair care can make all the difference. We must be aware that it is not possible to have a chemical treatment and have healthy hair without constant care.
How can we protect and keep our hair in optimal health?
1. Conditioners please!
Conditioners adhere to the outer layer of the hair, smoothing the surface. Generally, their effects can wear off if we don't use them constantly, so we need to be consistent and not forget them.
2. The mask will be your best friend
Masks can provide a more intense treatment to the hair, but to get their benefits they must remain in contact with the hair fiber for a certain amount of time. Try to apply the mask that best suits your hair's needs twice a week and leave it on for at least 20 minutes.
For bleached hair, we recommend alternating L'Essentiel Mask with Tasmania Mask to provide deep nourishment and hydration.
3. Don't forget professional treatments
Professional treatments have the ability to create new bonds or rebuild damage to the cortex. Only hydrolyzed proteins and amino acids have the ability to diffuse inside the hair and interact with the damaged areas. This is why we recommend visiting our trusted salon from time to time to provide the hair with everything that we cannot provide at home.
Sublime 10.31 interacts in this way with our fiber, since the molecules that are worked in step 1 diffuse inside the hair, penetrating better into the cortex and interacting with the damaged area. It is very important to remember that this is a cumulative treatment, which means that the more sessions we do, the better we will notice our hair.
