Does conditioner make hair greasy?

Have you ever skipped conditioner because it makes your hair greasy? If you have, we recommend reading this article carefully. There are many myths about hair care, and the idea that conditioner or hair masks make your hair greasy is one of them. The truth is, this is completely false.

Conditioner softens the hair, conditions it, retains natural moisture, helps detangle, and adds shine. But it does not make hair greasy. If you've noticed your hair feels greasier than usual, it’s due to one of the following reasons:

  1. Rinsing is very important, both between shampoo and conditioner and at the end. Make sure to completely rinse out the product so your hair looks loose and silky.
  2. Do not apply conditioner to the roots. This is one of the main causes of greasy scalps, reducing volume and leaving hair flat and heavy.
  3. It is crucial to choose the right conditioner for your hair type, as the formula also matters. Ideally, opt for conditioners with low molecular weight formulas, as they are suitable for all hair types.
  4. The amount makes a difference. Depending on the length and thickness of your hair, you may need more or less product. Typically, the ideal amount is about the size of a mandarin orange for longer, thicker hair, and about the size of a hazelnut for shorter, finer hair.

If conditioner is not part of your routine, you’ll notice your hair tips becoming weaker, especially when detangling. It is essential to protect the hair fiber from within, strengthening your hair against external aggressors.
